The latest athletics training and competition venue in the south of England - Lee Valley Athletics Centre has opened for business.
The £16 million complex is providing a much needed venue for athletes at all levels, from elite to local schools and clubs, and is a key delivery site in the region for the English Institute of Sport. The centre manager Mick Bond has decribed the facility as an athlete's dream.
"The centre is absolutely fabulous - an athlete's dream come true. The facilities and equipment here will give athletes and coaches everything they need."
Charles Lawrence Surfaces were responsible for the construction of the 8 lane outdoor athletics track complete with field events, including all associated civil engineering works, barrier fencing, landscaping and surfacing works. This £700,000 project was delivered on time and within budget.
