Future Foxes Train on new Charles Lawrence Pitches

Charles Lawrence Surfaces have recently completed a half million pound redevelopment at the Leicester City F.C. Training Centre. The project included the resurfacing of the existing indoor 3g pitch along with the construction of a new 106m x 71m outdoor 3g pitch. Further works included an upgrade to the existing floodlighting and the installation of new blue surround fencing in keeping with club colours.

Head Groundsman, Ed Mowe said "From start to finish Charles Lawrence Surfaces have gone beyond their means to help us build a bespoke facility that is second to none and will last for years to come. The quality of the Lano Profoot surface is sublime and the feedback is that it's a great surface to play on which is what we needed to achieve for the facility to work. We are now able to increase training and match hours during the winter months and I don't know how we ever managed in the past without it."

The indoor works consisted of removal of the existing synthetic turf and the introduction of a new macadam surface prior to the installation of a state of the art Lano Profoot MXSi60 sand / rubber filled 3g playing surface. All these works were successfully completed within a tight 6-week programme and all within budget.

The outdoor pitch works consisted of a full construction project, including a new drainage scheme, stone and macadam sub base and the installation of the Lano Profoot MXSi60 sand / rubber filled synthetic turf. All these works were completed within the allotted 14-week timescale and within budget.

Wayne Sexton, Charles Lawrence Surfaces' Contracts Manager, stated that "the aim with all our projects is to build on good working relationships and it was clear from the start that LCFC and CLS hit it off, and this attitude helped forward the development of the project. LCFC made their ambitions and desires clear and it's evident from the smiles around the club that we have achieved and surpassed these".

The chosen turf was selected after CLS invited LCFC along to a number of sites around the area, including the Leicester FA Framework projects where CLS constructed two full size pitches, six blocks of changing rooms, and reconstructed four Multi Use Games Areas. LCFC also visited the Manchester United training ground at Carrington, where Lano had their surface previously installed.
