RESURFACING AT KING EDWARD VI SCHOOL, SOUTHAMPTON
Charles Lawrence Surfaces have recently won the prestigious contract to resurface the water based pitch at King Edward VI School in Southampton. The pitch is located at the Wellington Road site, formerly owned by Southampton University. The project was won despite fierce competition and a vigorous interview process chaired by pitch consultant John Cadman Associates, part of the Synergy Group.
The original pitch was in fact constructed by Charles Lawrence Surfaces in the 1990's and our thorough understanding of both the original project and the client's requirements were crucial in winning the contract.
The project involved the removal of the existing surface and integral pad, the installation of a new insitu shockpad and the installation of the Polytan Megaturf CPF 13-2-38 water based surface complete with gripper channel and other associated works.
The surface has FIH Global Certification and is the same as that used for the Hockey World Cup in 2006 at the Warsteiner Stadium in Germany. Following a trip to the stadium the client also specified the striking blue surround.
