Football can be played on most types of synthetic surfaces such as sand filled, sand dressed and macadam. The most common surface for football is a sand and rubber filled long pile (or more commonly referred to as 3G) surface either with a shockpad or laid directly onto an engineered base.

This is an example of an FA guideline full sized 11 v 11 3G football pitch at 7420m2 with play lines for 11 v 11, 9 v 9 and 5 v 5.

It is usual for a football pitch to have 4.5m high twin bar ball retention fencing with a rebound panel to 1.2m high.

Floodlighting of either 6 or 8 columns can be installed to an average 200 lux for community use.
